Elements Of Distance Education Diffusion

I have three years experience in teaching a collaborative course at my elementary school. I teach this course with a special education teacher. I have been able to experience and reflect on the benefits from this type of instruction. I want to focus on the impacts of this kind of teaching for online students. I believe this is a strong principle of distance learning.

Collaboration in instruction aids the ability to meet the needs of each student. I believe instructors should create an environment in their classroom where students play an active role in their learning by engaging with other students to master learning objectives. The information I have acquired about online collaboration has given me insight on how to incorporate the use of technology in an appropriate and effective manner to enhance my instruction. I make a strong effort to meet the needs of each student in my instructional planning. The incorporation of technology will help engage my students and provide a more active learning environment.

  1. Collaboration can be a very powerful tool if it’s utilized correctly. In the school system where I teach, the special education teachers are required to collaborate with the regular education teacher about the students who they serve. Collaboration greatly benefits the teachers, instruction and most of all the students.

    Thanks for sharing!

I am excited to hear that you use online collaboration technologies in your elementary school. I believe that it is so important to get our young minds accustomed to technology at a very early age. I just read a news article about ipads being used in kindergarten (http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/apple-ipad-learning-tool-kindergarten-maine-tennessee-south/story?id=14509290)

I wish I had this technology when I was little. By the way, my 10 year old niece helps me out with my smartphone when I can't figure something out!

I know exactly what you mean. Our students know how to operate the new smart boards we have better than many of the teachers. It is amazing how quickly they pick up on how to work technological devices.

They you for the link to the article!
